At Hawthorn Middle School South, we believe in learning for all. We seek to foster a passion for life-long learning in our students, staff and community by offering personalized learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom. Our dedicated staff is committed to educating the whole child through rigorous academics, a wide-variety of extracurricular activities, and a robust social-emotional learning curriculum. We maintain close relationships and open communication with families to ensure a team approach to learning. 

Students have the opportunity to explore and grow their interests through the many unique extracurriculars that Middle South has to offer. In addition to our core academic classes, we have several encore courses, which include Visual Arts, Music, STEAM, Consumer Tech, Band, Chorus and Orchestra, just to name a few. We also sponsor more than 20 clubs and activities that range from computer coding to gardening to acting! In addition, the Middle South student body and community take great pride in our athletic program that grows strong, healthy and well-rounded student athletes. Our favorite games are against Hawthorn Middle North where we engage in a little friendly cross-town rivalry.
