Social Entrepreneurship 4/30/16

On April 30, students from Mr. Sementa’s Integrated Math and Science class that has been learning about social entrepreneurship, as well as Student Council representatives, fundraised for Handing H.O.P.E. while greeting customers at Jewel/Osco in Mundelein.  Over $430 was raised!  Many friendly customers provided donations to help children undergoing cancer treatment.

Middle South Open House 5/11/16

Mark your calendars for this years Open House at Middle South on Wednesday, May 11th from 6:30–8:30 p.m.  Please come by and tour our wonderful school and visit your child’s classrooms to view their amazing work.  The Fine Arts Department will also be participating in the evening, please see the attached flyer. MAP Testing

Hawthorn Middle South will be MAP testing from Monday, May 2nd through Friday, May 13th.  Please be sure students are on time and try to keep appointments during testing to after school if possible.

Student Council-Earth Day

State Bowling

On Friday, April 15th and Saturday, April 16th Middle South sent six bowlers to the State Bowling Tournament.  Middle South Boys team took 5th place in state.  8th graders Aiden I. took 9th place overall and Alex K. came in 18th place.  Congratulations to all who participated!

7th & 8th Grade Boys Track

On Tuesday, April 12th 7th grade boys track won a conference quad meet in Barrington.  Then on Saturday, April 16th there was an invitational for both 7th & 8th grade boys. 16 teams participated with Middle South 7th grade boys coming in first and Middle South 8th grade boys coming in 4th.

IPA Winners

The annual Illinois Principal Association Recognition Breakfast was held on Wednesday, April 13th at Vernon Hills High School.  Two 8th grade students, Lexi R. and Peyton N. were selected for possessing leadership traits. During the event Hawthorn Middle South’s Principal Robert Natale was recognized as Principal of the Year for the Lake Region.
