Middle School South is using data driven decisions based on research that proves that the physical education program positively impacts student academic growth in the classroom and on standardized tests.
Sixth-grade students in Ms. Klein’s music class at Middle School South learned to play African Djembe drums. They created drum rhythms for each of their names and composed a piece made up of the rhythms of their names.
We want to ensure that all students experience a positive transition to high school! As one step in providing MHS with the information needed to make well-informed placement decisions for all incoming students, all 8th grade students will take the STAR exam at Mundelein High School on Saturday November 11th. The STAR assessment is an online test that provides timely feedback on students’ literacy and math skills. STAR assessments are computer-adaptive, which means the difficulty level of each test is adjusted as students move through the assessment. The STAR test results will serve as one data point among many in the placement process. Mundelein High School will also consider students’ fall mathematics and reading MAP scores, other standardized tests administered at the middle school level, past course achievement, and eighth grade teacher recommendations. Thank you for your participation in this process! For more information please contact Jamie DiCarlo (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Kim Goldberg (email@example.com).
Congratulations to Coach Robinson and the Middle South boys soccer team on winning the SMSC Championship for 2017! Daniel P. had the deciding goal in a 1-0 victory for the title.
