Over 50 eighth grade girls walked the red carpet recently showing off taffeta, lace and silk dresses for their friends and family as a prelude to the Hawthorn Middle School South dance and promotion ceremony.
Zengeler’s Cleaners of Northbrook donate dresses for the occasion or girls bring them from home. and Creative Promotional Products of Skokie donated shoulder bags filled with gifts for each of the girls. Prior to the annual MSS Fashion Show, the girls “fluff and buff” their outfits and hair behind the scenes. No boys are allowed at the Fashion Show.
“The Fashion Show is a great way to build self confidence among the girls,” said Principal Robert Natale.
“It also teaches the girls how to walk elegantly in dress up clothes and behave accordingly,” said show sponsor Rhonnie Bogenschutz.
