Hawthorn Middle School South sent 10 students to the Regional MathCounts competition on Saturday 2/17/18.  The top four students compete as a Team and as Individuals, and an additional four students compete as Individuals. Two more get the opportunity to go for practice.

Our Team took 2nd place out of 18 schools and earned a spot at the State Competition on March 3rd.  The Team consisted of 8th graders Spandan G, Amy W, and Josh K, and 7th grader Jeffrey B.  In addition to their Team finish, Spandan placed 6th, Josh 8th, and Amy 12th in the Individual competition, sending the three of them to the additional Count Down Round competition held for those that finish in the top 16.  This is our best Team finish in my 10 years of coaching!

A huge congratulations to the Team!
