Allergies
Due to the life threatening nature of peanut/nut allergies, no foods with peanuts or nuts, nut products or peanut/nut warnings are allowed in the classroom. Due to the risk of cross contamination of foods baked with peanuts or nuts, no home baked or baked items from a store or bakery are permitted in the classroom. Foods with peanuts, nuts or nut products are allowed in the cafeteria for lunch because a peanut/nut free table is provided for children with these allergies.
Medication At School
All medications, including over the counter medications like Tylenol, Advil and cough drops, require a doctor’s order and a parent’s signature. The Medication Administration form can be found here:
Medication Authorization Form and Student Agreement Form.
Medication must be brought in the original sealed container and be clearly labeled with the child’s name.
Flu Prevention
Flu can be very dangerous for children. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that between 6,000 and 26,000 children younger than 5 years have been hospitalized each year in the United States because of influenza. The flu vaccine is safe and helps protect children from the flu. Here is information on flu prevention in English and Spanish.
