On Wednesday, October 21st, Townline & The School of Dual Language joined Middle School South in their annual Hawthorn Sings! Concert. It truly was a wonderful experience with 200 students singing Cristi Cary Miller’s “The Duel” using the lyrics from Eugene Field’s poem of the same name as well as the American folk ballad “Old Joe Clark” arranged by Mary Goetze. The Vernon Hills High School Choral Director, Mr. Jeremy Little, started off the program by welcoming everyone and introducing the choirs.
Mrs. Alice Grubb conducted the Townline & Dual Language Eagle Chorus in the songs “Stand by Me” and “Feel Good”. Mrs. Genevieve Klein conducted Middle South’s curricular 7th & 8th Grade Chorus and 6th Grade Chorus, as well as the After School Chorus. Students sang with accompaniment by Ms. Kim Teeters as well as a cappella. Middle South students Itamar S. and Jackie F. both were featured in the song “I Am the River” by Amy Bernon, sung by the 7th & 8th Grade Choir.
