Chorus NIMCon

The Hawthorn Middle South 7th and 8th grade choir participated in the NIMcon organizational contest on Friday March 11. They performed “Three Contemporary Latin Settings”, “The Cuckoo”, and “Can You Hear” and received a rating of a 2. They performed very well and received great feedback from the judges.

Orchestra NIMCon & Concert

On Saturday March 12, the Hawthorn Middle South 7/8th Grade Orchestra performed at the NIMCon Organizational Contest at Woodland Middle School in Gurnee. Student Council-Feed My Starving Children

On Thursday, March 10, Middle South Student Council members, families and friends packed food at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville.  During our session, 89 boxes were packed with food that will go to various countries to serve malnourished children.  Our last event of this year will be on May 5.

The Lost & Found is full & waiting for your child to claim their items.  If your child has lost anything, please have them stop by the Lost & Found to check.  Any items not claimed by Spring Break will be donated.

6th Grade Pi Day

To celebrate Pi Day, 6th grade math students made a paper chain link of the first 400 digits of pi and made a Histogram showing the frequency of each digit.

6th grade students in CCSS7 used geoshapes, water, and their previous knowledge of the volume of prisms  to develop a formula for the volume of pyramids.
