Treats for Troops

6th graders from Middle South collected Halloween candy to send to the Troops.  On Thursday, November 5th Mr. Chris Miller from the USO picked up 2 large boxes of candy that had been donated.

Halloween & Pep Assembly

Students and staff enjoyed dressing up for Halloween on Friday, October 30th.  The annual Pep Assembly was held in the afternoon with an orchestra performance followed by a kids costume contest, staff costume contest and a mystery game in which peeled grapes were eyeballs and unpopped popcorn was teeth.  Some teachers participated in a donut […]

8th Grade Spanish Ofrendas

8th Grade Spanish students created ofrendas to experience a popular Latino tradition practiced on the Día de los Muertos (November 2). Students included papel picado (intricately cut tissue paper), candles, skeletons or skulls, and other small remembrances to honor those who have passed away or people who mean a lot to them.

Science Club

Our first week of science club was a success! We had a theme of “SPOOKTACULAR” science and created foaming skeletons. Members created a chemical reaction to create an OOZING colored foam.  

Allanson Road Closure

A portion of Allanson Road is expected to be closed beginning Tuesday, November 3 while West Shore Pipeline makes repairs to its pipeline. The repair will require the closure of Allanson Road at the railroad crossing between Terrace Drive and Tower Road in Mundelein and could last for up to two weeks.    

Choral Concert

On Wednesday, October 21st, Townline & The School of Dual Language joined Middle School South in their annual Hawthorn Sings! Concert. Mr. Koch’s Social Studies Class

We had a “Guest Educator”  Mr. Francis Lightfoot Lee from Virginia who subbed for Mr Koch on Tuesday, October 27th. Mr Lee is a Member of the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.  He was also a close friend of Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Lee spent the day working with Mr. Koch’s […]
