Firefighter Tony and the Countryside Fire Protection District met with the 6th grade science classes on Tuesday, September 1st. They learned the importance of fire safety in the home and in school.  The 6th graders learned that it only takes a small amount of smoke to activate a smoke detector, about an average of 20 seconds.  The firefighters emphasized that calling 911 immediately, having an escape plan as well a family meeting place outside is very important.
