Students in sixth grade social studies classes at Middle School South worked collaboratively on a project where they created their own Paleolithic and Neolithic Stone Age clans. Some portions of the project included: designing tools, building a dwelling, and creating musical instruments that could have been used by their clans during the Stone Age. Students also wrote about the various cultural aspects of their clans, such as the clothing, language, and art. Students enjoyed this hands on project about ancient men and women adapting to their changing environments.
